the benefits of energy-efficient
water heaters.

Water heating is the third largest energy expense in your home. It typically accounts for about 14% of your utility bill.

Following are some ways to cut your water heating bills:

  • use less hot water overall
  • try washing clothes with warm water and rinsing with cold
  • make sure your water heater is set at the lowest point (try 120 degrees),
  • insulate your water heater
  • consider buying a new energy efficient water heater
  • drain a quart of water from your water tank every 3 months to remove sediment that impedes heat transfer and lowers efficiency

A family of four, each showering for 5 minutes a day, uses 700 gallons of water a week; this is enough for a 3-year supply of drinking water for one person. You can cut that amount in half simply by using low-flow aerating showerheads and faucets.

Renville-Sibley carries Marathon Water Heaters with a LIFETIME Warranty. This high-efficiency water heater has at least two inches of polyurethane foam insulation around the entire tank - top, bottom, and sides! This insulation helps store the heat and adds to the efficiency of the heater.
